The week-long art event will coincide with the Art Monte-Carlo show.

These two artistic events, under the High Patronage of Prince Albert II, were presented at a press conference on 1 June. Thomas Hug, the show’s director, was joined by Louise Gréther, director of Sotheby’s Monaco, Federica Beretta, director of the Hauser&Wirth gallery – who has just joined the selection committee – Fabrizio Moretti, founder of the Moretti Fine Art gallery, Safia El Malqui, patron of Art Monte-Carlo, and Augustin Nounckele, associate director of the Retelet gallery.

They all unveiled the superb itinerary organised for Monaco Art Week, supported by the Government’s Department of Cultural Affairs, which will feature 15 exhibitions and bring together 16 members*, mainly in Monte-Carlo and Larvotto.

From Chagall to Léger, by way of Picasso, Chamberlain, Renoir and Cocteau… Paintings and sculptures can be admired in the many partner galleries and auction houses, where modern art, contemporary art, design and fine jewellery creations will all be on display.

The launch will take place on 4 July, from 6pm to 9pm, in the different participating venues.

Art Monte-Carlo, “a show on a human scale”

As for the Grimaldi Forum , it will be hosting the seventh edition of Art Monte-Carlo, from 7 to 9 July. No fewer than 35 exhibitors** will be taking part, both indoors and on the esplanade, including the Hauser & Wirth gallery, which will be presenting an exhibition by George Condo, currently on view at the NMNM.

“George Condo was in Monaco in March and May, at the Hôtel Hermitage,” says Federica Beretta. “He asked his assistants to create a tiny studio in his hotel room, and he created new works there. We are delighted to present this selection of fifteen new works, which are mainly on paper. They are magnificent, truly exceptional drawings!”

Also worth noting is the participation of the Retelet gallery, which focuses on the Surrealist movement in Belgium and France. Augustin Nounckele explained that the stand would be celebrating two anniversaries: the 125th anniversary of the birth of René Magritte and the 30th anniversary of the death of Belgian artist Marcel Mariën. The exhibition will also feature a monumental piece by Peter Hailey. The gallery director also mentioned that in 2024 Retelet will be hosting a summer exhibition of works by the famous Spanish painter Joan Miró, to mark the centenary of the beginning of the Surrealist movement.
