Zimbabwe-born royal attends Akris event to see 2019 spring/summer collection of Swiss fashion house
Princess Charlene of Monaco put in an appearance at Paris Fashion Week at the beginning of the month, attending the showcase of Akris’ 2019 spring/summer range. Decked out all in black, Princess Charlene cut a suave and sultry figure, with a tight black leather jacket over a lacy black gown. The ensemble was completed by a black clutch bag and matching heels, while her pristine blond curls were tied back in a bun to reveal a pair of breath-taking diamond earrings.
Princess Charlene has long been a loyal fan of the luxury Swiss fashion house Akris, having sported their garments at a number of high-profile events. One of the first occasions was at the Oscars in 2012, when the newly-married Princess wore a sweeping, stunning white gown dreamt up by the brand’s creative designer Albert Kriemler.
Another notable endorsement of Akris fashion came in 2015, when the Princess stepped out onto the balcony of the royal palace for the official presentation of her twin babies Gabriella and Jacques to the nation in 2015. On that occasion, the Princess wore an elegant white cashmere jacket with matching dress and gloves and thigh-high tan boots.
Earlier this year, the Princess once again demonstrated her loyalty to the brand by wearing a colourful Akris dress at the 2018 Monaco Grand Prix at Monte-Carlo, where she appeared on the podium and partook of some of the celebratory champagne. Her latest eye-catching outfit is just another signal of her preference for Kriemler’s work; indeed, the pair seem to enjoy such a special relationship that the man confessed that he always has the Princess in mind when designing any new collection.
Other highlights from Paris Fashion Week included an innovative display of summer ensembles from Chanel in a beach promenade and Louis Vuitton’s gender-blurring collection outside the Louvre. The glittering extravaganza, for many people the calendar highlight in the world of fashion, was attended by many other luminaries, as well. Stars of the silver screen in attendance at events across the week included Blake Lively, Eva Longoria, Shailene Woodley and celebrity couple Chris Wood and Melissa Benoist.
