BRICKLIVE MONACO inside the Grimaldi Forum is giving a whole new meaning to “building up toward Christmas.”
In Monaco, it is never too early start preparing for Christmas. To make this winter season even more special than the last, the Grimaldi Forum will be filled to the brim with the world’s favorite multicolored plastic bricks.
From December 22, 2018, until January 6, 2019, the Grimaldi forum will host BrickLive Christmas for the very first time. BrickLive is an interactive LEGO-based building adventure for fans of the legendary toys.
Something for Everyone
According to Sylvie Biancheri, the Grimaldi Forum’s general manager, “children will be able to move around the space and create their own little worlds.” The creative event is open to all, tall and small, and it will spread throughout the 4,000 square meters of the Ravel space. There will be a Star Wars theme park, LEGO graffiti walls, car-racing tracks, mountains of colored bricks and, of course, an impressive Christmas presentation à la LEGO.
BrickLive Christmas will serve as a “best of” show, compiling the most engaging BrickLive installations of 2018 into one big spectacle. The activities will feature an interactive LEGO Friends space with a 3D map of Monaco built from, yes, LEGOs.
Lions and Tigers and… LEGOs
BrickLive at the Grimaldi Forum will also include the Animal Paradise theme. The installation will be built by professionals. One of the main attractions is a 545-kilogram tiger composed of 85,000 LEGO bricks. This pedagogic project is a way of introducing children to endangered species in an impactful way. The lifestyle LEGO modeled animals are meant to educate children about the protection and preservation of threatened species, biodiversity, and the planet.
The BrickLive Animal Paradise theme is due to tour 20 cities over the next three years. This initiative has been helped along in partnership with The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. The animal paradise will tour notably in the UK, North America, South America, and around Asia (South Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong) beginning with the Beijing National Stadium AKA ‘The Birds Nest.’
Should the event meet expectations, the BrickLive Christmas at the Grimaldi Forum extravaganza could become an annual event. That is the hope of David Ciclitira, president of the BrickLive Group, and resident of Monaco. As the Principality seeks to further animate its yearly calendar with family-friendly events, BrickLive might be here to stay.
