Agent of Golovin denies exit reports

According to Golovin’s agent, the player has no intention of leaving the club in the winter transfer window.

The 22-year-old arrived in Monaco earlier in the year, in the summer transfer window for a fee of €30m. The player was also linked with a move to Chelsea, who seemed to be in a strong position to sign him. However, Monaco finally signed the youngster.

The big money move was followed by a magnificent performance in the World Cup where he helped Russia reach the quarter-finals for the 1st time since the Soviet Union broke up.

However, the Russian international has not been able to replicate the same performance since making a move from CSKA Moscow to Monaco.  To make things worse, he sustained an ankle injury and missed the opening month of the season.

Since then, he has made 14 appearances in all competitons and is yet to score. He has 2 assists to his name so far. However, Golovin isn’t the only player who is yet to shine. The club is 19th in the league and has won just 3 out of the 18 games.

Even Thierry Henry has failed to change Monaco’s fortune. With the transfer window set to open soon, a number of players are linked with an exit from the club.

And one of them is Golovin. There are reports that Zenit St Peterburg is interested in taking the 22-year-old back to Russia.

However, Oleg Artyomov, Golovin’s agent, has quickly denied those rumours.

“All thoughts of Alexander are connected with performance in Europe. He will play in Monaco,” said the agent while speaking to a Russian website, Championat.
