Young Monegasque dancers crowned World Champions in Orlando

Five pairs of the AS Monaco Danse Sportive participated at the World Championships. It took place in Orlando from 10th to 16th December. They came back with two titles.

It has not been easy for AS Monaco Danse Sportive to raise funds needed to travel to Orlando. But thanks to a little help from the government, crowdfunding and the various events organised by the club, the five qualified couples qualified for the semi-finals, were able to go to the World Championships.

And the least we can say is that the dancers of the Principality did not go there to do figuration. On the contrary, “We won first place in the Bachata Junior Team category and second place in the Salsa Junior Trio”, Mirella Piano, president of the section, proudly points out.

The team consisted of Esteban Gaglio Vinceslas and Delia Peccoux, Anthony Marquez and Sofia De Freitas, Valentin Ledoux and Laura Scarlot, Orian Quere and Lola Palmaro, Ismael Jaen Sanchez and Marie-Josephine Leporati.

For the president, her dancers were able to “show a certain mastery of all their choreography and seduced the twelve judges from different countries.”

It was beautiful and moving. In addition, everyone was able to attend adult performances.

“They could see great dancers, and that’s a plus for them,” says Mirella Piano.

After the United States, it is at home that the dancers will have to radiate the Principality.

On January 5th, the Monaco club organises at the Espace Leo-Ferre, its 4th Trophee du Rocher. It will be attended by couples from all over France and Italy.

“In the morning, there will be salsa, and in the afternoon it will be a sports dance. In the evening, we have planned to dance the titled couples on the choreographies they performed in Orlando,” said the president.
