The Flavien Foundation, an association created by Denis Maccario, is tasked with sensitizing the Monegasque population to the cause of pediatric cancers and rare diseases. On February 15th, the foundation is organizing a symbolic march in honor of these victims. The “Team Orange,” and its many volunteers, will take the opportunity to unveil its many commitments.
In August 2014, following the death of his son Flavien, Denis Maccario decided to extend the fight he fought for years against pediatric cancers. To do this, he created the association named after his son, with the slogan “new hope”. Since then, this committed man and his fellow volunteers have multiplied their interventions by organizing fundraisers and partnerships with local entities (including A.S. Monaco) to further the fight against these malicious diseases. To date, the Flavien Foundation has already gleaned hundreds of thousands of euros for medical research.
A march for the future
On January 23rd, the General Assembly of the association informed the members of the progress made by scientists with the help of the sums collected. Some of their progress has since been presented at the Biennale of Cancer, while other advances are being published. This comes a time when the foundation can boast of achieving international partnerships. The fight is also being approached on a different scale with the march of February 15th. The event, aimed at the general public, will begin at 6 pm on the Place du Palais, with the aim of rallying any and all people interested in this noble cause.
