On Monday, AS Monaco announced that Louis Ducruet, Princess Stephanie’s oldest son and 14th in line for the Monagesque throne, has been appointed as the assistant to Vadim Vasilyev, the football club’s Vice President. Ducruet, 26, has had a long history of involvement with the Ligue 1 club; since 2015 he has worked in its international recruitment department. In his new role, Ducruet will work in tandem with Vasilyev on football affairs and general recruitment.
Announcing Ducruet’s promotion, Vasilyev seemed to hint that the promotion is in line with Ducruet’s hopes to eventually lead the club: “Louis has Monaco anchored deep inside him. He also has a strong desire to lead the club one day. That’s why I decided to help him move on this path by allowing him to evolve with me, closer.”
Ducruet’s new role comes amid a broader reshuffling at the club, which currently sits in 18th place in the French league table. On January 25th, Vasilyev reappointed manager Leonardo Jadim three months after having replaced him with famous French football Thierry Henry; the club has also recently signed a number of new players, including Brazilian centre-back Naldo and Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
