The fifth edition of the biennale Rencontres Internationales de la Musique électroacoustique (International Meeting for Electroacoustic Music) will be held in Monaco from April 18th to 20th. This event, organized by the Rainier III Academy, highlights this whole segment of contemporary music.
Under the leadership of Mario Mary, an impressive lesson in electroacoustic music is being organized at the Rainier III Academy. This vein of contemporary creation, which consists of elaborating musical pieces from new sounds generated electronic synthesis, digital music, and experimentation holds special regard in the Principality, where the International Competition for Electroacoustic Composition is organized.
An open biennale
Every two years, the Rencontres Internationales de la Musique électroacoustique welcomes all actors from this relatively small sphere to participate. This year, the event will be accompanied by three concerts at the Théâtre des Variétés, where, at 8:30 PM on April 18th, 19th, and 20th, several original creations will be presented.
These events are an opportunity for the general public to appreciate a very specific musical genre that unfolds in original forms. In addition to its practice, electroacoustic musical theory will not go forgotten, with the organization of two composition masterclasses, spatialization workshops, conferences, and round table discussions. Three major composers of this vague are the guests of honor of this edition: João Pedro Oliveira, Annette Vande Gorne, and Daniel Terrugi. Finally, students from around the world will present their own creations within the Academy space… A unique glimpse at the present and the future of the genre!
