The former Technical Director for Red Bull’s footballing division has now officially joined AS Monaco. At 38, Paul Mitchell is taking on a new challenge in the role of Sporting Director.

“I am looking forward to coming to AS Monaco,” he said. “I would like to thank Mr Oleg Petrov and the Club for their trust. I would also like to thank Red Bull for the years I spent at their side. I am looking forward to taking up my position, meeting the teams and starting to work together to develop the project and establish a sustainable philosophy for the club.” The Manchester-born player, who has worked for Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur in the role of recruitment director, has been overseeing the various clubs in Red Bull’s football division (Leipzig, New York, Salzburg, Bragentino) since 2018, after having been in charge of recruitment and development at RB Leipzig, which this year qualified for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

In Monaco, under the direction of Oleg Petrov, Paul Mitchell will be in charge of the entire sport policy of AS Monaco, from the Academy to the professional group and the Cercle Bruges. “It is a great satisfaction to welcome Paul Mitchell to AS Monaco after several successful years with Red Bull and I would like to thank Red Bull for making his appointment possible in a very professional manner,” said Oleg Petrov, the Vice President and CEO of the club. “Paul will bring his skills in talent identification, recruitment and the development of our players, from the Academy to the first team. Paul will be in charge of the sporting aspects of AS Monaco and I am convinced that his arrival will significantly strengthen our project.”
