The third edition of the race “The Crossing: Calvi — Monaco Water Bike Challenge”, organised by the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, will take place on 12th and 13th September. For this occasion, the Princess herself will take up this sporting challenge.

Two teams of four internationally renowned athletes, including Princess Charlene, will set off from the port of Calvi, Corsica, on 12th September at 3 pm. For 24 hours, the athletes will take turns over 180 km until they reach the Yacht Club de Monaco, the race’s finishing point. To do so, they will use Schiller hydrobikes, which were used in previous editions.

Three programmes across 34 countries

The objectives of this challenge are, of course, to cross between Calvi and Monaco in the shortest possible time. But, above all, the challenge seeks to raise public awareness of the various programmes of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation. For example, “Learn to swim” and “Water Safety” are two programmes implemented all over the world, aimed at underprivileged children or children at risk of drowning. A third programme, “Sport & Education” offers sports activities to contribute to the wellbeing and development of children.

Since the Foundation’s creation in 2012, these three programs have benefited more than 730,000 people from 34 different countries.
