The 71st edition of the Music Festival of Menton will take place from August 1st to 10th, this year redesigned to ensure that festival goers remain safe during the event given the current COVID-19 situation.

“This dream almost didn’t come true this year,” said Paul-Emmanuel Thomas, Artistic Director of the Music Festival of Menton. However, after several weeks of work, the team was finally able to propose a new programme for its festival which will be able to welcome the public with open arms.

Concerts broadcast live on the internet

The “Great Interpreters” concerts will take place on the square in front of Saint Michael Archangel Basilica across five dates in which spectators will be able to meet accomplished musicians such as Renaud Capuçon or the young Kit Armstrong. The audience size having been reduced to around 300 people, the concerts will also be broadcast live on the festival’s website.

Two other concerts will be held in the Parc du Pian and its olive grove overlooking the sea. In order to maintain social distancing measures, music will be broadcast in headphone over wifi. “This edition is placed under the sign of resistance while ensuring the safety of everyone,” said Paul-Emmanuel Thomas.
