In 10 days’ time, the Principality will be buzzing with the 80th Monaco Grand Prix. The Formula 1 cars will be zooming around the legendary Monaco circuit over the weekend. Each year, the event draws tens of thousands of people to our little land. They all come to watch a frantic race where every little bump and bend can make a huge difference. To mark the occasion, the Académie des Langues Dialectales presents 15 Monegasque words to do with the world of motor racing.

This vocabulary is taken from the « Dictionnaire français-monégasque » (French-Monegasque Dictionary) by Louis Barral and Suzanne Simone published in 1983, the only French-Monegasque dictionary in existence to date, republished in 2004 by the Comité National des Traditions Monégasques (National Committee for Monegasque Traditions).
