The 30th edition of the World Stars Football Match, organised by Mauro Serra and the Star Team For The Children non-profit organisation, took place on Tuesday evening at the Louis-II Stadium.

The Formula 1 drivers shone this year. After a draw against Star Team For The Children in the previous edition (3-3), the team led by Charles Leclerc won the match this time (4-3), as Prince Albert II looked on.

“We managed to put together some good combinations with Charles and Carlos,” smiled Pierre Gasly at half-time. “I had a few one-on-ones but there was a pretty good keeper tonight who stopped three, or four. We hope our superior cardio as sportsmen will make the difference in the second half.”

Daniil Medvedev in attendance

The French Alpine team driver was right, as the attacking trio made up of the Monegasque driver Leclerc, his team-mate Carlos Sainz and himself, inspired the F1 drivers to fight hard and turn the match around in the second half.

All of this took place under the watchful eye of Daniil Medvedev, recent winner of the Rome Masters 1000, who did not miss a single moment of the match. A good opening act for the drivers, as they prepare for the first free practice session of the Monaco Grand Prix on Friday.
