With these conferences, the MEB “aims to be more representative than ever of the Principality’s business community.”

The Monaco Economic Board… in the language of the bard! The MEB has just launched the “Monaco Economic Conferences”: a new series of conferences in English, aimed at the community of entrepreneurs who have a better command and understanding of the English language.

For the first conference, the MEB welcomed Edmund Shing, Head of Investment Strategy at BNP Paribas Wealth Management, whose presentation was in two parts.

The first focused on the current economic situation, which he describes as “abnormal”. The economist used a number of graphs to illustrate the consequences of the health crisis or the war in Ukraine, such as the very sudden and sharp rise in interest rates, or severe labour market tensions.

The second part focused on future challenges, and artificial intelligence in particular. As a specialist and investor, Edmund Shing recommends caution and feels that safe havens such as gold and other rare metals were still good options.

The conference ended with a number of questions from the audience, followed by a cocktail reception for the participants. “This new series of conferences takes account of the reality: Monaco is an international hub where 140 nationalities live in harmony, both residents and employees. In organising events in English, Monaco Economic Board aims to be more representative than ever of the Principality’s business community,” said Guillaume Rose, MEB Executive Director General.
