What is there to do in Monaco in July 2023?
Exhibitions, leisure activities, events… Monaco Tribune shares a number of ideas for outings over the coming month.
Centenary exhibitions
The Principality is hosting a number of exhibitions in the centenary year of Prince Rainier III’s birth. “The Prince at home”, “The Prince and his animals” and “Prince Rainier III, a rose garden in tribute to his wife” can be seen in the State Apartments of the Prince’s Palace, the Jardin Animalier Rainier III and the Roseraie Princess Grace respectively. On 20 July, the exhibition “Le Prince bâtisseur, une ambition pour Monaco” (The Builder Prince, an ambition for Monaco) will also be launched in the exhibition hall on Quai Antoine Ier. In a different vein, a documentary on the life of Prince Rainier III will be screened at the Grimaldi Forum on 4 and 5 July at 7pm. Admission is free but booking is required.
Ballets de Monte-Carlo
The Ballets de Monte-Carlo will be staging three performances on July 18, 19 and 20 at 7.30 pm. The ballet company will be performing Cinderella. Choreographer Jean-Christophe Maillot uses the setting of a recomposed family of vain, idle characters where mourning is impossible for the simple and unpretentious Cinderella. Her naked foot becomes the ballet’s symbolic object, celebrating that part of the body, without which dance could not exist. Performances take place at the Monte-Carlo Opera.
F(ê)aites de la danse
The big party will take place on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 July. Nearly 250 artists will be on hand on Place du Casino for 24 hours of dancing, including a 12-hour marathon. The aim of the event is to bring people together through the activity and, above all, to join in! The Place du Casino will be redesigned for the occasion. Brazilian, Tahitian, African dance, country, tango, ballroom, tap, hip-hop, boogie woogie, pole dance… There’s something for everyone. And it’s all free!
MC Summer Festival
Other stars can be seen throughout July, from the Sporting Monte-Carlo stage to the Garnier Opera House, during the Monte-Carlo Summer Festival. These include Ricky Martin on 11 July, Norah Jones on 12 July and Sting on 23 July. The full list can be found on this page.
