On Thursday 18 July, Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène officially opened the exhibition entitled “La Flamme Olympique au fil du temps/The Olympic Flame through the ages” at the Grimaldi Forum.

Organised by the Monegasque Olympic Committee, the unique exhibition celebrates the hundredth anniversary of the third rowing gold medal won by John B. Kelly Sr, Prince Albert II’s grandfather (1924-2024).

The Sovereign’s private collection features 40 Olympic torches, from 1936 to 2024, iconic symbols of the Summer and Winter Games. The torches are displayed on a 40-metre-long structure, divided into two distinct sides, allowing visitors to explore the history and stylistic evolution of these iconic objects.

The innovative scenography promises a real journey back in time, allowing not just sports fans but also the inquisitive to discover the rich history of the Olympic Games through these rare items, until 18 August.
