Prince Albert II attends AS Monaco’s centenary gala dinner
It was a glamorous and emotional occasion on Saturday evening. In honour of AS Monaco’s centenary, a gala dinner was attended by some of the club’s leading figures, including President Dmitry Rybolovlev, Managing Director Thiago Scuro and Coach Adi Hütter, as well as Prince Albert II, Minister of State Didier Guillaume, President of the National Council Thomas Brezzo and Stéphane Valéri, CEO of the SBM.
To conclude a month of festivities, including a memorable match against Montpellier, AS Monaco chose the Hotel Hermitage as the setting for its gala dinner. The Salle Belle Epoque welcomed some 80 prestigious guests: current and former management and players all gathered to celebrate a century of passion and success.
Distinguished guests such as the Monegasque Sovereign and AS Monaco President Dmitry Rybolovlev, as well as political and sporting figures, attended the social gathering. Discussions centred on the Red and Whites’ good start to the season, giving rise to enthusiasm and ambitions for the future.
Honouring football legends
The event was also an opportunity to pay tribute to the great figures who helped write the club’s history. Former players such as Jean-Luc Ettori, Claude Puel and Dimitar Berbatov regaled guests with anecdotes and nostalgic memories, recalling the high points that have made AS Monaco such a footballing institution.
The atmosphere was ‘full immersion’, with an exhibition of collectors’ items, including vintage jerseys and photos, retracing the club’s history for the guests.
Fine dining and entertainment on the menu
Michelin-starred chef Yannick Alléno presented a refined menu, while virtuoso pianist Stella Almondo delighted the audience with her performances. The evening featured a number of activities, including a quiz on the club’s history, with Prince Albert II the clear winner. He received a unique work of art, created live by the artist Djiango on the night.
A symbolic cake to conclude the festivities
A sumptuous cake to mark the Centenary, in the AS Monaco colours, was cut before all those in attendance, including Stéphane Morandi (member of the Board of Directors). This symbolic moment marked the end of an evening that was full of emotions and memories.
Centenary celebrations
The centenary anniversary can be enjoyed through a variety of souvenirs. Among them, an official (French language) book retracing the club’s history has been published, so fans can relive AS Monaco’s finest moments from the last 100 years. Sold out as soon as it was released, the vintage shirt was an instant hit with the fans, becoming a veritable collector’s item from the outset.
A documentary film has also been produced for the occasion, providing a unique look at the club’s history, through archive footage and previously unreleased personal accounts from Prince Albert II, Didier Deschamps and Kylian Mbappé, among others.
