The British McLaren Formula 1 driver and Monaco resident turned a lot of heads when he turned up in his Lamborghini Urus.
Wearing a white beanie and driving his SUV with the registration number L4-15 – “L4” standing for his initial and race number, and “15” for the number of the car – Lando was quickly recognised on the Place du Casino. The Lamborghini Urus is one of the most powerful cars on the market, with 666 bhp on tap. It accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of 305 kph.
“I’m more scared on the road than in a racing car”
The Formula 1 vice world champion, who had 4 wins and 13 podium finishes last season (one more win than Charles Leclerc), has a sizeable car collection that he doesn’t like to put on display.
As he said on the That Peter Crouch podcast, he’s much less comfortable on an ordinary road than on a racetrack: “I’m more scared on the road than in a racing car.”
The jewel in the crown of his collection, the fabulous Ferrari F40, has been doing the rounds on social media recently.
A McLaren driver since 2017 when he was part of their young driver programme, he moved up to Formula 1 in 2019 along with Carlos Sainz. He owns a McLaren 765 LT Spider worth $940,000 and a McLaren 570S valued at $510,000.
