The Monaco Economic Board (MEB) delegation is back from the Hungarian capital with promising business prospects and concrete agreements, marking a turning point in trade relations between the two countries.

Over three intense days, from 24 to 26 March, a dozen Monegasque entrepreneurs took part in a carefully orchestrated trade mission to Budapest. The highlight of the visit was a forum in collaboration with the Hungarian Export Development Agency (HEPA) and the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Each Monegasque participant met at least six business contacts, selected in line with their specific business objectives.

Signature of a strategic agreement

A memorandum of understanding was signed between Guillaume Rose, Executive General Manager of the MEB, and Elek Nagy, President of the Hungarian CCI and Honorary Consul of Monaco in Hungary. The signing ceremony was attended by Katalin Bihari, Deputy Secretary of State at the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and José-Luis Delso, Hungary’s Honorary Consul in Monaco.

Not just business meetings

The delegation also took advantage of networking opportunities at more informal events, including a dinner at the prestigious Gundel restaurant with H.E. Georges Habsbourg-Lorraine, Hungary’s Ambassador to France and Monaco. The schedule also included a visit to an innovative energy site and Budapest’s famous parliament.

The mission follows on from last June’s visit to Monaco by the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Péter Szijjártó, for the inauguration of the new Hungarian Consulate in Monaco – cementing a shared desire to strengthen trade ties between the two nations.
