Jean Fournier, a young bank employee, is introduced to gambling by his colleague Caron. Favoured by luck, he decides to leave for Nice against his father’s advice and is thus driven out of his home. In a casino, he meets his queen, a certain Jackie (played by a platinum blonde Jeanne Moreau), with whom he immediately falls in love. Jackie is not insensitive to Jean’s charm, but their passion for gambling and their love prove to be incompatible. In the end, love wins out over the passion for gambling and saves the couple from falling apart.
