Every year at the end of the summer, music lovers gather in Monaco for conferences, concerts, and movie-concerts to celebrate a perhaps under-appreciated instrument: the organ. The festival takes place in several locations all around the Principality, including in the Cathedral.
In 2020, despite the health crisis, the 15th edition of the festival took place, even if the programme was more condensed. The beautiful artistic and musical encounters between the artists and the public were successfully adapted. The opening of the 15th International Organ Festival was put together by Roland Galtier (consultant technician for historical organs). The first notes of the organ were played by Sophie-Véronique Cauchefer-Choplin accompanied by the voices of Pierre-Marie Escourrou and Pauline Choplin reciting the text “M. Ibrahim and the Flowers of the Koran” by Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt.
