The Monaco Basketball Association was founded on 25 November 2009 under the impetus of its current President Eric Elena. The Monaco Basket Association encouraged the practice of basketball both competitively and recreationally. Moreover, since their first official match on 8 September 2010 in the French Cup, the MBA has continued to grow and become more succesful.
Under the coaching of Babeth Aranda, the women, who began semi professionally in 2010, quickly reached the regional championships and National 3. Then, in 2014, the pennant team led by Olga Tarasenko won their place in the Women’s National 2, the 4th national level. However, the 2016/2017 season was when the MBA really came into their own. After dominating the championship, in the same yeat the pennant team won the the title of French NF2 champion, synonymous with a move up to National 1. They also won the French Senior Cup Trophy at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris by defeating three National 1 teams.
In addition, the MBA school is growing every year and offers young girls the opportunity to play basketball from the age of 7 years old in the categories of chicks, benjamines, minimes and cadets. Finally, the Senior 2 have had similar success. They were crowned Departmental Excellence Champions in 2016. Today, they are aiming to move up to the National 3 division.
