The Sports Society is one of the first in the Principality. It came from the initiative of Coach Jules Prat, and was authorised by decree of his Excellency the General Governor of Monaco, on 9th June 1909. Its purpose? Since then, many important regional, national and international tournaments have taken place.

During the world championships, some of their shooters reached the fencing semi-final in Paris in 1937. Who was on the team? MM. Fernand and Louis Prat, Gaubert, Bremond and Viale. In 2009, the Club celebrated its centenary in the presence of Prince Albert II and the main Monégasque Authorities at the Louis II Stadium in Monaco. On this occasion, a member of the Club, Mr Fernand PRAT (junior) presented a preview of the design for a new fencing handle to the Sovereign. The design, named “Poignée PRAT”, was approved for sabre fencing a few months later by the International Fencing Federation.
