Monaco Red Cross Gala

This gala takes place every year at the beginning of August, in the heart of the Monte-Carlo Sporting Club’s Salle des Étoiles. The gala’s first addition was in 1948, taking place in the Principality and internationally.

Since its creation, the Monegasque Red Cross has organised shows for its own benefit. Prince Rainier III of Monaco presided over the first edition. The money raised was spent financing initiatives that the great humanist Henry Dunant believed were important. Year after year, the gala becomes even more prestigious, welcoming a Christian Dior fashion show in 1952 and Zizi Jeanmaire in 1953.

Ten years after its creation, the gala of the Monégasque Red Cross decided on a new President: Princess Grace of Monaco. Under hes chairmanship, the Gala welcomed many prestigious names, such as Ella Fitzgerald (1959), Sammy Davis Jr. (1961), Charles Trenet (1962), Sacha Distel (1963), Gilbert Bécaud (1968), Charles Aznavour (1970) and Shiley Bassey (1971). The objective is always to express gratitude to the donors and to salute the actions carried out with the help of the donations collected.

Each year, a raffle with sought-after prizes is always a highlight from the event, making it one of the most coveted galas in the world. The gala begins with the traditional raffle draw, followed by a sumptuous meal bursting with summery flavours, after which the Prince opens the ball. Musical supports of the Monégasque Red Cross then take to the stage, named Salle des étoiles. Afterwards, the traditional fireworks illuminate the Monégasque sky much to the delight of the guests. A glamorous atmosphere guaranteed!
