Since 1961, the Principality of Monaco has been home to “the oldest” and “most majestic” television festival in the world.
Studios, TV channels and TV stars meet every year for a few days in an idyllic location. The purpose of this event? Promote their programmes to the press and the public, and compete in the prestigious Golden Nymphs competition. For 60 years now, the festival has taken place every year in June at the Grimaldi Forum. Open to the public, the festival allows spectators to meet international stars. Like the Césars or the Oscars, the Golden Nymphs ceremony rewards the winners of the best television programmes from all over the world. It is the members of the jury who decide between the works in competition.
Over the years, the Festival has grown, giving the studios and productions the space they deserved, welcoming digital platforms, being more availale to the public to better promote programs and better serve the industry.
Even if in 2020, the Festival was unable to roll out its red carpet, unveil its line-up of international stars, or welcome its audience, the 2021 edition promises to be special. The competition has been reformed, which will undoubtedly give the festival a new dimension.
