His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco is the Reigning Prince of Monaco and head of the Grimaldi family. Prince Albert II is the son of Prince Rainier III (1923-2005) and internationally renowned American actress Grace Kelly (1929-1982). He succeeded to the throne in 2005, following the death of his father, Prince Rainier III.
Prince Albert is heavily involved in environmental work. In 2006, he led an expedition to the North Pole to raise awareness about climate change. Following the expedition, he founded the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, which is dedicated to preserving the environment.

He has travelled extensively throughout the world, including France, Italy, the United States, Germany and Russia. He has met with the political and economic leaders of all these countries. Some fifty countries maintain diplomatic relations with the Principality.

He is married to former Olympic swimmer Charlene Wittstock. The civil wedding took place on 1 July 2011, the religious wedding the following day. On 10 December 2014 their twins, Gabriella and Jacques, were born. Hereditary Prince Jacques will succeed Albert II on the throne.
