Ice rink

Every year from December to March, under the direction of the Municipal Services for Sports and Sporting Facilities, the Rainier III Nautical Stadium is transformed into an ice rink with a surface area of 1,000 m2. In addition to the Christmas lights, this seasonal installation is eagerly awaited by winter sports lovers in the Principality. However, it requires five weeks of work and a dozen workers.

In addition, a 60 m² ice rink, just for young children, is also set up. Whilst holding parents’ hands tightly, the little ones can skate around the rink in their own pair of skates. It is worth nothing that skire hire is free of charge for accompanying adults and children under five years of age. Standard entry for an adult costs 7 €.

However, in 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the ice rink had to follow several safety measures. A one-way skating system was in operation and lockers and ice skates all had to be disinfected after use. In addition, a maximum of 200 people were allowed to skate at any one time and everyone had to wear masks.
