In spite of its rather classic name, there is nothing ordinary about the programme at the Theatre of the Muses. There are adaptations of classical plays as well as comedies and contemporary plays. Children are not left out, as there is a programme dedicated to them too.
Situated in the Les Moneghetti district, the place is like a jewellery box, made of stone and wood, with a hundred red velvet armchairs inside. Its reception includes a very welcoming period bar serving cocktails. Moreover, the establishment is part of the association: “Les Amis du Théâtre des Muses”. The aim of this association is to support the Théâtre des Muses in order to enable it to host an exceptional programme which – despite the financial contributions made by the artists – remains expensive. Its other mission is also to ensure promotion in the Principality, in France and abroad, so that the creations can be shared far and wide, increasing Monégasque influence in French-speaking countries.
The association has another string to its bow: it offers an educational programme to introduce young people to the dramatic arts. Indeed, many children rarely attend the theatre or have never been to one at all. Thus, the initiative is an invitation allowing young people to discover an unknown, extraordinary world. As you will know, the theatre provides: a great freedom of expression, development of the imagination and an exposure to literature, thanks to classical but also contemporary plays.
